Fashion Blogger Of The Week: Naomi From The Fash Pack On Blogging For The Right Reasons And The Style Blogs She Reads Everyday

11 April 2013 by

This week's Fashion Blogger of the Week is a Fashion Week regular with over five years of blogging under her belt. Naomi Mdudu is the Editor of The Fash Pack, a one-stop shop for industry news, show reviews and trend reports, as well as street style, food, drink and travel features. The former law student aims to provide users not necessarily working in fashion a sneak peak into the industry, hence the name, The Fash Pack.

Grazia Daily: How long have you been blogging?

I started my blog five years ago, before fashion blogging was the huge community it is today. At the time I was at university studying for a degree in law so I used the blog as a platform to talk about my love of fashion icons from Carine Roitfeld to Nicole Richie.

Grazia Daily: What made you decide to start your blog?

At university I got a part time job doing fashion PR for a young Italian handbag designer and I remember going to shows and places like Paris for the tradeshows and despite being a part of it, I always felt like I was on the outside looking in. So The Fash Pack was intended to be a place I could ramble about fashion, the shows and brands I loved but in a conversational and accessible way for girls like me.

Grazia Daily: What’s been your highlight so far?

Attending Burberry’s first ever show in London was incredible. I had a full schedule of shows that day and I remember getting a text from my mum telling me that a golden ticket had arrived in the post. All I can remember is dropping everything I was doing and missing the whole afternoon of shows to go all the way home to pick it up and make it to the show in time. I’ve had lots of great moments ever since but nothing will ever top that initial excitement and novelty of being invited to the big shows for the first time.

Grazia Daily: Are there any particular perks of blogging?

Aside from all of the obvious things, the best part of blogging has been all of the amazing blogger friends I’ve made along the way. Quite a few of us started at the same time and have been on this crazy journey together, which has been really lovely. Not many of my school friends were interested in fashion so it was so refreshing to meet people who were just as obsessed with it as I was, especially back then.

Grazia Daily: Have you been to London Fashion Week?

I’ve been doing London Fashion Week for the past six years and still love it. Every season the schedule just gets better and better.

Grazia Daily: Blog brag time: why should people read your blog?

I think The Fash Pack is a great for anyone who wants to be kept up to date with what’s going in the fashion industry but in a fun, relatable voice. It’s all about approaching fashion in an easy, light hearted way.

Grazia Daily: What advice do you have for anyone starting a blog?

Do it because you love what you’re writing about. With lots of really successful bloggers out there now, many people go into it for the wrong reasons and it shows. Be dedicated to creating great content and the rest will follow.

Grazia Daily: Which other fashion blogs do you love?

Not a day goes past without me checking on Fashionista, AfterDrk and KarlasCloset and I also visit my friend’s blogs like Abi Marvel, Coco’s Tea Party and Five Five Fabulous.
