Akon singing Angel to the Angels, Katy Perry belting out Firework and a pink-wigged Nicki Minaj rocking Superbass…with an A-list history of performers this year’s Victoria’s Secret show has an awful lot to live up to! But fear not, we’ve just got the low-down on this year’s show, which excitingly is tomorrow! *squeals*
Amid the nightmare that was Hurricane Sandy, Victoria’s Secret not only loaned their stage-building forklift to the National Guard for disaster relief (see, fashion people have a heart too!) but in order to get the show back on track, and more importantly on-time, the brand also put up all of their talented costume makers, props and stage designers up in hotel rooms so they could continue working on the supermodel-filled lingerie spectacular.
So what can we expect from this year’s show? We’ve got our hands on all the backstage gossip…
1. The Angels
We already brought you news that Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn will be debuting this year, but now we know Miranda Kerr and Adriana Lima have been at Victoria’s Secret HQ for fittings this week.
2. The Location
There will be two VS shows – one at 4pm and another at 8pm held at New York’s 69th Regiment Armory.
3. The Costumes
In the Silver Screen Angels segment, a special costume is being created by Jamie Filippelli and Mary Shaffer to mark the 10th anniversary of Swarovski Elements’ partnership with the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show- a dazzling look which Filippelli described as made to “make it look like the crystals and beads are floating in the air”
4. The Jewellery
Designed by jewellery designer David Mandel we can look forward to seeing a four foot diamond back python mixed with coloured Swarovski crystals and featuring, wait for it, actual snake eyes sourced from a taxidermist. Gross perhaps, but an impressive attention to detail!
5. The Music
Last but by no means least, this year’s show we can look forward to not one but THREE singers – including Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars. This is a girl’s night like no other, and boy oh boy we will be glued to our TV screens for this one!
