The Chanel S/S 2013 catwalk show was remarkable for many reasons. Firstly we were astounded by the presence of a wind farm catwalk inside Paris’ Palais Royal - full sized turbines whirling menacingly around atop of a procession of models is definitely one way to catch our attention. But we were also bowled over by the fabulous selection of both wearable and whimsical accessories on show so we were super excited to pop into the Chanel Press Day early today.
Probably the most Instagram-ed bag of the season, the Hula Hoop beach tote was begging to be tried on for size. We can confirm it is both ridiculous and fabulous – definitely a ‘dare you to wear’ fashion statement. For a more modest approach the hula bag is available in both medium and mini sizes - surprisingly practical and perfect for swinging around your wrist.
Also on show was the super cool range of oversized pearl jewellery – we are particularly enamoured with the mega pearl cuff and pearl cluster chokers both would add the X-factor to a red carpet
The Boy Brick clutch – or Lego bags as fashion insiders are calling them – were another highlight. From Crayola brights to a seriously cool see-thru version, the Boy Brick is guaranteed to be a major hit with the street style brigade. Another sure-fire winner was the Coco Chanel silhouette sunglasses, complete with signature hat and strings of pearl – who wouldn’t want the lady legend sitting on top of their shades? One thing's for sure - Karl Lagerfeld certainly knows how to get accessory addicts in a spin!
