While he may have had a battering in the collection reviews, and created plenty of enemies in the fash pack, Saint Laurent deisgner Hedi Slimane is still friends with rock ‘n’ roll’s hall of fame. Famous for clothing some of music’s biggest stars from David Bowie to Daft Punk and for his rock star photography – including an exhaustive collection of images of former Libertines frontman Pete Doherty, Slimane looks set to add another notch to his measuring tape by dressing the Rolling Stones for their upcoming 50 year anniversary concerts.

Announcing four new dates – two in London next month and two in New Jersey in December – last week, the Stones have triggered an avalanche of fan attention with reports that tickets will be selling for up to £12,000. Marking the first gigs since 2007’s Bigger Bang Tour, Stones fanatics may well be treated to some of the Italian-Tunisian designer’s signature skinny jeans and blazers.
Rolling Stones in Paris this week
While the band were dressed down for yesterday’s surprise warm-up gig in Paris – where 350 tickets were sold at a bargain basement £12 - rumours are now circulating that the Saint Laurent will now be offering his tailoring talents to Ronnie, Keith and Charlie as well as Sir Mick, who Slimane dressed for previous tours.
Slimane has had a close relationship with the aging rockers for several years as he shot the band for his 2004 book Stage, so the collaboration would not be wildly out of the question. So first Lady Gaga pictured in his designs and now the Rolling Stones? That Paris fashion week disaster and that Cathy Horyn spat seems to be fading rather speedily into the distance!
