Cara Delevingne ruled the Fashion Week runways this season, making her, undoubtedly, one of the most sought-after models in the industry. And along with her Burberry campaigns, the lithe-legged lass is now a face of the rather racy Chanel Resort 2013 campaign.
Chanel Resort boasts a mixture of impressive tailoring and romantic story-telling, something that is feminine and dramatic, but always classic. Karl Lagerfeld brought the whimsical visions of Chanel Resort to the gardens of Versailles last season, and with the blooming petticoats, resplendent fabrics and frilled corsets for 2013, it seems he is still taken with French Revolutionary style. And one thing Karl knows is how to represent the iconic Chanel brand, for no one looks more fit to represent the his vision than Cara D.
Lounging on a gold-embroidered divan, Cara plays up to the opulence and sensuality of a modern-day Marie Antoinette. We see her barely protecting her modesty with one arm, and fanning herself with a large ostrich feather, while in the second shot Cara, with an all-knowing look, rules as the queen of her boudaire. Her renown thick, furrowed brows and towering curls play perfectly with the cinched belts and flowing scarves. All we can say is let her eat cake Karl, because she's usurped the throne as Chanel queen (sorry, Keira).
This isn't the first time Cara has donned corsets and peaked hats, as she played a virginal darling in Joe Wright's Anna Karenina. And like her sister Poppy, Cara has been bitten by the acting bug: 'I enjoy acting, yes, and that's what I've always wanted to do since I was young.' We'll be on the look out for Cara's major acting debut, but in the meantime, she's a modelling queen.
