Yasmin Le Bon On Growing Her Hair And Sharing Her Wardrobe With Her Daughers

25 October 2012

Last night, British designer Matthew Williamson held court at Nobu on Berkeley Square, Mayfair, to celebrate a limited collection of dresses that he has created in collaboration with Swarovski to mark his 15th anniversary. Helping him celebrate the career landmark - and his birthday which fell the day before - was supermodel Yasmin Le Bon.

We caught up with the mother-of-three to discuss how she’s coping with her cropped barnet. “I’m growing it,” she said of the recently-shorn ‘do, which is starting to grow out. “I’ll cut it all off again but, for now, I’m growing it.”

She also had a thing or two to say about sharing her wardrobe with her daughters: “We have rules now. The first is that if it’s mine, then I have to wear it first. And I’ve started investing in their wardrobes – it means that they borrow less from me, but also that I can borrow from them…”

Speaking of families, Williamson’s mum and dad were the night’s guests of honour. They had come down from Manchester on Tuesday night for their son’s birthday, Maureen bearing bags full of home-made food as a birthday treat.
“I made soup as a starter and froze it for the journey,” she told us on the dancefloor as DJ Scarlett Etienne played Rihanna’s We Found Love and Beyoncé’s Run The World. “And for a main course I made chicken breasts, stuffed with asparagus and cream, and wrapped with Parma ham.”

At that point, after just one salmon canapé, we had to admit being a touch jealous of Maureen’s culinary prowess and went in search of dinner.
