Another couple of sisters have entered the fashion ring, although this is certainly a very different (and may we add, very sexy) sister act. Penelope Cruz and her sister Monica Cruz not only have enviable genes, but they have now teamed up with high-end lingerie retailer Agent Provocateur to develop a diffusion line called L'Agent.
The collaboration will be Agent Provocateur's first step into the wholesale market, and who better to team up with than the Cruz sisters, who have already marked their fashion territory with limited-edition collections at Mango. Unlike Agent P, which only sells its impressive merchandise via its website or selective stores, L'Agent will be sold through worldwide retailers (possibly including Selfridges, Harrods and John Lewis), and at lower prices. After Monica Cruz teamed up with Agent Provocateur as the face of their A/W 2012 campaign, she expressed a great interest in developing a line for a larger audience. With the Agent P managers equally enthusiastic, Monica got big sis Penelope on board and went straight to work.
The Cruz-ers have left no stone unturned, from details of the designs to labels to hangers. The line will feature 15 separate styles, each complete with bras, corsets and other lingerie necessities. Described as 'a little younger, and perhaps less sophisticated' line, it shows Agent P is ready to receive a different, although equally important audience.
The sisters are likely to become the faces as well as collaborators for the line. Penelope Cruz exclaimed she was 'very much looking forward to this long-term collaboration.' And as they have settled on a five-year starting contract with their new Agent P family, with likelihood of extension, it seems we'll be buying Penelope-inspired thongs for a long, long time.
