New Pictures of AnnaSophia Robb as Young Carrie Bradshaw on the set of Carrie Diaries

The forthcoming Carrie Diaries series, currently filming in New York City is set to chronicle Carrie Bradshaw’s early years. While we’ve already seen some studio shots earlier in year, pictures just in show the filming schedule is well under way.

Starring AnnaSophia Robb as a wavy haired teenage shoe addict, The Carrie Diaries will catch us up with Sex and the City’s ultimate singleton back in the early 80s as she confronts all the trials and tribulations of being a senior in high school.

Whether or not author Candace Bushnell has sold out by revisiting her heroine is up for debate – but one thing’s for sure, we’ll all be tuning in to see how costume designer Eric Daman – of Gossip Girl fame - will be dressing everyone’s favourite fashionista.

As we can see from the shots above re-hash of classic Carrie looks is most definitely not on the menu. While a different style is inevitable - simply because Carrie Diaries will be on CW (the same station as Gossip Girl) rather than HBO and SATC’s legendary head of costume, Patricia Field will not be involved - the look has clearly been tailored to a much younger audience than the Manolo loving viewers of the original show.

First up we see AnnaSophia stepping out in a cobalt pussy bow blouse and emerald jacket combo which looks far more Ugly Betty than Carrie Bradshaw. While we’re sure the sheer tights and personalised handbag are very 80s, there’s something frumpy about the look that doesn’t chime with Carrie’s signature trashy chic style. The second look which mixes a stripy sweater, polka dot mini and Aztec inspired slippers is young, fun and sure to prove popular with Taylor Swift fans. But whether the look is proof of future fashion icon status, we’re not so sure. Click through the gallery above and tell us what you think of young Carrie’s wardrobe!
