Celebrate Wool Week With It-Knit Wear: Alexa's Bat Jumper And Burberry Owl Sweater

18 October 2012 by

This week (in case you didn't know) is wool week, which brings together the fashion industry, textiles industry and design students to celebrate the fabulously British woolly jumper. The week is organised by The Campaign for Wool and kicked off on Monday with a showing of knitwear designed by students accross the country for UK high street stores.

Woolly jumpers now go way beyond just being granny knits and sensible statements, they are loud, must-have pieces. It-knits include Bella Freud's 1970 jumper worn by Alexa on the LFW FROW, 3.1 Phillip Lim Ka-Pow sweater loved by Sandra from 5 Inch and Up and the adorable Burberry Prorsum Owl print sweater as worn by Kate Bosworth.

The statement it-knit has been slowly rising up our chart of lust for years - remember Kate Moss's Bella Freud 'Ginsberg Is God' sweater she wore back in 2003? The FROWs this year were packed with loud knitwear in stripes, geometric prints and animal motifs in a rainbow of colours.

It is wool week so it would be rude not to invest in an it-knit right? For inspiration, look through our gallery above of stars and fashionistas wearing statement knitwear...
