Thank you Victoria Beckham! Via her Twitter account, Queen Becks posted these stunning pictures with her and Karl Lagerfeld, done as part of an exclusive shoot for French Elle. And what would be more fitting than a shoot with the head designer of Chanel if not at 31 Rue Cambon, the home of the late Coco Chanel?
The infamous curved staircase with its refracted mirrors showcased the beginning of now renowned Chanel classics, such as the Little Black Dress and the Little Black Jacket. It's also where the introverted Coco Chanel herself would spy on her unsuspecting audience at Chanel fashion shows. However, unlike her predecessor, Victoria Beckham is centre-stage, and although arguably just as chic, she's wearing a lot less clothing -- although we can't say the same for Karl!
VB took Little Black to new heights with a fitted black sweater by Lanvin andunderwear by Eres. She paid homage to Chanel with jewellery and wore very sexy ankle boots by Giuseppe Zanotti Design. In the second shot, the Kaiser's gone and Victoria is left contemplating on her own, wearing a white Fendi shirt, eyeglasses from her own eyewear range, and Sergio Rossi stilettos, with nothing but legs in between.
Beckham is a known fan of the Kaiser, stating, 'I am thrilled to shoot with Karl. I have so much respect for him and I find him so inspiring.' She was also humbled by the shoot and its hallowed surroundings: 'To shoot in Coco Chanel's apartment in the clothes of the house of Chanel is really a dream come true,' she said.
And while Karl is a hard man to please, he had nothing but rave reviews for the former Spice Girl: 'Victoria has an innate sense of style. She knows what she likes, and knows what is good for her.' We'll agree with you there, Sir Kaiser.
