We get on with our siblings and everything, when they're not behaving like spoilt brats. But the idea of working with them brings us out in a cold sweat. For some stylish ladies however setting up shop with the family has been one hell of a shrewd business move. Anyone who has followed Brand Olsen's progress over the last couple of decades will tell you how lucrative things that come in polished pairs can be. What started out as a kiddie franchise for a young Mary-Kate and Ashley has turned into a fashion empire that including two main line collections which have well-heeled women all over the world lining up to buy into the twins' signature bohemian New York look.
While perhaps not so fashion-forward the Kardashian sisters have also harnessed sister power, combining starring in their own reality TV show with running a chain of designer boutiques called Dash, as well as collaborating with the likes of Sears and Dorothy Perkins on fashion ranges. What works across the pond also seems to flourish here in the UK capital where Londoner Lily Allen chose her big sis Sarah Owen to be her business partner when she decided to launch her own vintage boutique, Lucy in Disguise. With her sibling by her side the singer pulled in a fair amount of publicity, on top of a pop-up at department store Selfridges, a Channel 4 series and spin-off clothing line.
And it’s not just fashion designing that requires a little sisterly support, model Cara Delevingne was thrilled to have her sister Poppy in the front row when she took to the catwalk at London Fashion Week, while Elle and Dakota Fanning have appeared together on the cover of W Magazine and always have each other’s backs on the red carpet.
