Jennifer Lawrence Seals Her Style Status As The New Face Of Dior Handbags

10 October 2012 by

First Jennifer Lawrence napped a front row seat for Dior's Couture show in July. Then the actress appeared at the Toronto Film Festival wearing a jaw-dropping multi-coloured print dress from the much-coveted collection. Might this be the French fashion house's new muse, we wondered.

Today, we have our answer and it's a YES! J-Law has been snapped up as the new face of the Miss Dior handbag range and is expected to appear in the Spring Summer 2013 campaign which debuts worldwide in March next year. But this won't just be Jen's first Dior campaign - this will be Jen's first campaign EVER. Tres bien!

It's hardly surprising considering the blonde bombshell has taken Tinsel town by storm. After scoring nominations at the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes for her role in Winter's Bone, Jennifer was part of the silver screen success that was - and continues to be - Hunger Games.

Along with the film accolades, the starlet has earned her fashion stripes too. Of-the-moment designers including Victoria Beckham, Prabal Gurung and Marchesa have scrabbled to dress her and let's not forget when she took to the red carpet in a touch of Tom Ford typically reserved for Gwyneth Paltrow standards of fame. And now we can look forward to seeing Jen swathed in endless Dior confections...

'It’s impossible to be in the industry without getting even the slightest introduction to fashion,' the 22-year-old tells WWD. 'I hate being overdressed so I normally find a way to ‘casualise’ anything too showy. If I have a red-carpet event, I definitely want a couple hours to get ready. But for my every day life, I’m normally ready in 15 minutes.'

And how does she feel to be the face of Dior? 'It’s such a dream to represent an iconic brand that is synonymous with high fashion.' Well, natch. 'I’m so excited to be working with the fashion house and wear the new creations by Raf Simons. His most recent Haute Couture and Ready-to-Wear collections glamorously capture the modern era at Dior.'

'Like the whole world I first discovered Jennifer Lawrence as a young action hero,' says Simons. 'I was of course struck by her unbelievable on screen presence in these "larger than life" movies, but I was equally impressed by her powerful portrayal of more emotional and complex characters. Her youth and her classic beauty but also the feminine strength and complexity that she can portray at such a young age are for me very unique and very appealing.' Looks like someone shares our girl crush and Jen is sure to bring a youthful freshness to match Raf's modern creations.

The actress joins the A-list likes of Mila Kunis and Marion Cotillard who have also modelled the Miss Dior bag while ambassadors including Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron have struck a pose for Christian Dior fragrance. So it's official, Ms Lawrence: you're in the big league now.
