There are countless skills our mothers teach us, walking as a toddler was a particularly important one we reckon. But it seems for the supreme ‘90s supermodel Kristen McMenamy, she’s still showing her daughter how it’s done, eighteen years later! The long-haired beauty’s teenage daughter is following in Kristen’s high-heeled footsteps, with her runway debut in Paris last week. As we reported last week, rumours were rife before Hedi Slimane’s much anticipated debut for Saint Laurent, that Lily McMenamy would walk in the show. And it was true!
Lily spoke to Into The Gloss this week about her big debut at Slimane’s mega-discussed first show for the French label… I figured I would try modeling. I literally signed with Next like one week ago, went to meet Hedi [Slimane], and just walked in his first show for Saint Laurent. It was my first runway show.” The eighteen year old even spilled the news that she looked to her mum Kristen on catwalking tips the night before the show…”My mom was here for fashion week, and I went to visit her in her hotel room one night before Saint Laurent and she gave me a catwalking lesson, which was super fun. For the first time ever, in my entire life. It’s always been kind of a secret fantasy for me. Just in her lovely room at the Park Hyatt, walking back and forth…I put on some of her Prada stilettos.”
And it seems the Pennsylvanian born brunette takes her job very seriously, even studying her walk after the show to see how she did! “I watched playback of myself from the show and I thought I did alright—but I was so terrified, you have no idea. All these amazing supermodels were backstage; it was super overwhelming. I thought I’d be really scared but I was just really happy to be there. It just felt so right.”
Aww what a sweetie, we reckon we’ve got a bit of a fashion crush forming don’t you?
