We'd become quite accustomed to seeing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge trussed up in their colourful holiday gear while touring Asia, but today the Royal couple are back to their drizzle-appropriate wardrobes. Prince William and Kate Middleton have just arrived at the Middle Temple Treasury to launch a scholarship for law students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their name and Kate's suitably wrapped up against the London chill.
She's chosen a wool skirt suit in a sumptuous burgundy hue by Paule Ka, consisting of a double-breasted jacket teamed with a black lace top and ribbed skirt that's shorter than we're used to seeing from the Duchess. Her look is topped off with black tights and sensible heels. Oh, and look at how her hubby has chivalrously matched his tie to Kate's ensemble. How we love a touch of Royal matchy-matchiness!
If you're not up to speed with Paule Ka, let us fill you in. The French brand was founded by stylist Serge Cajfinger in 1988 and is famous for skirt suits and sharp shapes inspired by Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn, so it's very fitting that the ladylike K-Middy has chosen one of his designs. Kooky-cool Brit model Agyness Deyn modelled the designer's cute range of dresses for La Redoute back in 2010, when Grazia Daily declared his stiff silhouettes and girly bows perfectly brilliant for indulging our First Lady fantasies. The Duchess is in good company too - A-listy types like Jennifer Lopez, Zooey Deschanel and Kate Beckinsale have also worn Ka's creations.
