Inside Grazia HQ: 5 Things We Loved This Week From The NEW Chanel Hula Bag To Dior's Modern Eveningwear

1. Check-mate!

Chessboard style checks seem to be a catwalk fave this season with Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Viktor & Rolf all opting for square printed runways. Chanel's flooring set the scene for the wind farm production, Marc Jacobs mirrored the 60s checked clothes at Vuitton and Viktor & Rolf took us back to the 1800s referencing a grand ballroom with the models entering the runway from an antique mirror. Post shows our normal lives really do feel very ordinary indeed!

2. Summer's beach bag does the Hula!

Clothes aren't the only things that are getting an injection of volume for Spring Summer 2013. Karl Lagerfeld has reinvented the beach bag, in the form of a round hula hoop. In terms of practicality, it’s big enough to fit your beach towel, bikini and more and the static frame means you can use it as an upmarket clothes rack once it’s in the sand. Whatever you think of it, it does make us smile!

4. Modern Eveningwear

One of the biggest trends ahead of next season has to be the new wave of eveningwear - but not as we know it. Maxi lengths which hit down to the ankle for a modern elegance paired with slim line bodies made the season’s voluminous skirts look wearable. Gone are the days of red carpet gowns, this batch of evening wear is suitable even for dinner with the girls on a Saturday night.

5. Suno's wedding dress

When we visited the 'Americans in Paris', a showcase of brands from the US that have been handpicked by the CFDA, we fell in love all over again with print designers Suno. Anna Wintour, when giving advice to all the lucky contenders told the dynamic duo to try designing a wedding dress, and here's what they came up with, we simply adore! Point proven, modern elegance really is the nu-wave of eveningwear.
