Alexander McQueen's Profits Soar - Did Someone Say 'Kate Middleton Effect?'

Alexander McQueen Reports Profits. Did Someone Say Kate Middleton Effect?

Kate Middleton hasn't just worked her magic on the British high street but also on top notch designer fashion houses too. Yep, THAT fairytale wedding dress has been credited for Alexander McQueen’s sales soaring by a stonking 27 per cent.

This week the Brit brand announced a profit of £5 million and sales of £41 million for 2011 from stores in Britain, the US and Italy. Just a funny coincidence that this is in the very same year as the wedding of the century? We think not! Of course the Duchess of Cambridge’s £250,000 ivory wedding dress may have something to do with the huge profits.

It can’t hurt that Kate has also worn a number of Sarah Burton’s McQueen creations on her royal engagements, from the scarlet dress she wore to the soggy Jubilee river pageant to the lilac floor-length gown she wore to a glitzy Hollwood BAFTA party.

You could say Sarah Burton took the gold designing Kate Middleton's wedding dress (compared to designing the Team GB kit, say) as the profits made Alexander McQueen overtake the sales of British label Stella McCartney.
