Chloé turns 60 this year and how better to celebrate such a milestone birthday than with a stunning show during Paris Fashion Week? Designer Clare Waight Keller presented the Spring Summer 2013 collection today and it was as fresh and feminine as ever with endless elegant tailoring and Parisian whimsy. Basically, it summed up everything we've come to love about the French fashion house since it was first founded back in 1952.
But that's not all. Chloé is celebrating the big 6-0 by opening up its archives for an exhibit called 'Chloé: Attitudes' at Paris' at Palais de Tokyo. Under the creative direction of cool girls from Stella McCartney to Phoebe Philo as well as founder Gaby Aghion and Karl Lagerfeld, who was the house’s head designer from 1966 to 1983 and 1992 to 1997, the retrospective is 'a playful and thematic path through Chloé’s creativity, pausing at key moments within its history’.
The brand has also launched a new interactive section on their website called Alphabet, modeled after Aghion’s process for naming her collections in alphabetical order. You can take a trip through the wonderful world of Chloé thanks to retro sketches, campaigns and plenty of pretty, pretty pictures. It launched with only five letters, C-H-L-O-E, and an extra letter will be added every day until the alphabet is complete with each linking to more precious archives. Cute!
So let's pay tribute to all that we love about Chloé by remembering 30 magnificent moments from the French fashion house. From archived drawings and glorious ad campaigns that date back to the '70s to starlets including Blake Lively and Olivia Palermo working Chloé creations on the red carpet, the gallery above is our homage. Joyeux anniversaire!
