Anna Dello Russo For H&M Party Quirks Up Paris Fashion Week: 'Excess Means Success'

28 September 2012 by

Who better to throw a fantabulous fashion party at the peak of Paris Fashion Week than Anna Dello Russo? The style maven was the hostess with the mostess at last night's glitzy launch for her collection for H&M - and Grazia was lucky enough to sip champagne alongside her...

Anna's trademark theatrical flair was a perfect fit for the famed cabaret nightclub Paradis Latin where the shebang took place. In true ADR style, every little detail was brilliantly extravagant, from red velvet chairs and cakes covered in her face to one gigantic golden boot made of sugar. The who's who of fashion let their hair down to join in the eccentricities - we're talking Olivier Theyskens, Rachel Zoe, Jefferson Hack and Peter Dundas. As for Anna's grand entrance, the lady of the night arrived suspended from the ceiling on a heart-shaped swing wearing a cut-out turquoise frock, naturally.

'We wanted to give the guests an unforgettable experience: an ever-evolving night that started on the red carpet and ended on the dance floor,' said ADR. 'We created an amusing cabaret show that, while being pure Parisian entertainment, could also function as a metaphor of the carousel of fashion. There was a voguing performance, too, and I had an army of mini AdR around me, wearing the collection, just for the sake of something unexpected. Excess for me means success.'

The unabashedly glamorous line of jewellery, shoes and accessories that Lady Dello Russo has designed for H&M were sported by a hoard of ADR look-a-likes who took to the stage for a cabaret-themed performance. As endless amounts of champagne flowed, the fash pack crammed onto the dancefloor and we spotted model types including Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss and Isabelli Fontana shimmying to a stonking set by Azealia Banks.

'People love Anna: she is fearless, she loves the stage and she is a great communicator. Anna is totally pop: Andy Warhol would have loved her, I am sure', says Giovanna Battaglia after taking to the stage alongside her fash-tastic pal.

As we left the madness to head back to our hotel, guests trickled through the Parisian streets still wearing their Anna masks. Long live the ADR army!

The collection will be on sale from 4th October, 2012, in 140 stores worldwide and online.
