As much as we love our folks, there's a tiny part of us that wishes our dads were rock stars and mums carried the tagline 'original supermodel'. Those catwalk genes can go a long way as the likes of Amber Le Bon and Georgia May Jagger have proved time and time again. Who wouldn't want long legs, bee stung lips and Rapunzel hair?
The latest in a long succession of bright young things to inherit the supermodel crown from her ma is 18-year-old runway novice Lily McMenamy. Our friends at Fashionista have reported that the brunette beauty, daughter of 90s supe Kristen McMenamy, is set to make her catwalk debut at Paris Fashion Week, exclusively for Yves Saint Laurent no less. Well when you're the progeny of one of the fashion industry's most iconic faces there's no point doing things by halves is there? There's already a massive buzz around designer Hedi Slimane's first collection for the brand this season so we're ultra-excited that Lily could appear in the show too.
Clearly model looks and fashion bankability run in the family and it can't have hurt that while still a teenager Lily has rubbed shoulders with some of the fashion industry's finest by accompanying her mum to work events. Known for her androgynous appearance Kristen has had a hugely successful career modelling for the likes of Versace, Chanel and Valentino. In February this year she even starred in McQ's first London Fashion Week presentation demonstrating her unconventional beauty. We wonder if Lily will emulate her mum's kooky look or strike out with her signature style. One things for sure, we're going to be glued to the catwalk like fashion hawks on Monday night when (fingers crossed) Lily joins a host of new and exclusive faces that Slimane has lined up for the runway!
