Actress Jane Birkin had a Hermes handbag named in her honour, Alexa Chung is the inspiration behind Mulberry's ever popular 'Alexa' satchel and now Lady Gaga has had a designer clutch created in the shape of her, err, derriere. The pop star's close friend and stylist Nicola Formichetti, the designer at the head of Mugler will today reveal his first leather goods collection for the French house at Paris Fashion Week, which WWD confirms will include a bag moulded in the shape of Gaga's pert posterior.
We're not sure if the Mugler bag above is the exact model, but we've spent a little bit of time trying to distinguish a likness. Can you see it? Of course it doesn't come as a surprise that Formichetti looked to the singer for inspiration as the pair have been long time mates and collaborators with Gaga wearing Mugler creations in the music videos for her hit songs Paparazzi, Telephone and Born This Way. She's also walked the runway in Mugler creations since her friend took the Creative Director reigns in 2010.
Aside from his muse's bottom, there wasn't much in the Mugler archive for Formichettito to draw upon as reference as the fashion house had only produced a few vanity cases in the way of leather accessories since it was founded by designer Thierry Mugler in the 1970s. As well as Gaga's bum bag, Formichetti's handbags for Mulger feature an elongated vanity case and a clutch in metallic lizard skin with prices start at 700 euros.
And how does Lady G feel about being the butt of the collection? 'She doesn’t know yet', according to Formichetti. We reckon she'll be thrilled!
