A high-profile catwalk slot at London Fashion Week and his own Topshop line - at the tender age of 27, designer JW Anderson isn't doing too badly. Plus he can count the likes of Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof and Daisy Lowe as fans of his designs. Now that's what we call a fashionable endorsement.
Although it's not hard to see why Anderson's the trendsetting crowd's designer du jour: his clothes capture the current mood for designs that are a bit hip and left-field (all-over print suits, asymmetric tailoring), yet still for the most part wearable. His Topshop collection, in particular, establishes his name as more than just a buzz-designer - 'JW' anchor logos embossed onto umbrellas and bags, plus trinkets such as iPhone cases and notepads, sit side by side his youthful ready-to-wear designs. Clearly Anderson's not just making clothes; he's creating a brand.
And despite being very much in-demand, Grazia were lucky enough to catch up with him for a behind-the-scenes chat at his London Fashion Week show. "It was this idea of filling up a white room," he told us about the inspiration for his latest collection. “The white room becomes the clothing - you need that negative space."
We also spoke to one of his famous fans - the style-savvy Pixie Geldof - who happily chatted about her love for the designer's schoolgirl-inspired pieces. Click play on the video below for the full shebang...
