The celebration of super-stylist Katie Grand's brand new collection for Italian brand Hogan last night saw an ultra chic soiree at Casa degli Atellani - a palatial Milanese private home compete with statue-filled romantic gardens. Katie's line of trainers, handbags and sunnies go by the name 'Gang', so called because of the collection of supermodels she assembled to shoot the magazine which supports the collection. And with Linda Evangelista, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Cara Delevingne involved, it's quite some posse.
The party itself was like an encampment of Brits on Italian soil. From models like Saskia de Brauw and Cara wearing pieces from Katie's collection and Ms Grand's old faithfuls - designers including Giles Deacon and Jonathan Saunders - as well as Lulu Kennedy and Abbey Clancy with her football husband Peter Crouch, Katie's Brit mates packed the party. We also spotted a gaggle of international names from actress Melissa George, Dree Hemingway and Derek Blasberg.
Blonde bombshell Abbey told us, 'Its my first time in Milan and I'm really impressed - I mean look at this garden and house, what a place.' So how did she come to wing her way to the Italian style capital during Milan Fashion Week? 'I was in the pub with Katie after Giles’ show this week and she said "I need a gorgeous blonde at my party in Milan on Wednesday" and would I come. To tell you the truth, I'd do anything for Katie – I even let her convince me to let myself be photographed just after Id had a baby!'
And what does Abbey think of the Gang collection? 'It’s the first time I’ve worn trainer on a night out– I think Katie has converted me – although these ones have got a heel in and are a wicked colour. Its like Katie has transported the London crew to Milan – I just wish I didn’t have to work tomorrow – Ive got to be up at 5am to get back home, its not going to be pretty!'
Fashion East founder Lulu Kennedy was more into Katie's shades. 'My favourite piece in Katie's collection are the pink glasses,' she told us. 'But I love the little bag as well. She's brought her very own brand of sparkle to Hogan. Katie always manages to pull together extatorandinary nights and this one is already heading that way!'
And what about the lady herself? What did she think about her party? 'It's amazing to have been able to bring a little slice of London into the heart of Milan because it's not a party if my mates aren't here. It's just so incredible that so many of them have made it here this evening, it's a really special thing for me.'
