With a decade-spanning career and global influence across the spheres of fashion, music and politics, Vivienne Westwood truly is a national treasure. Plus, rumour has it, the lady throws a good bash. So you can imagine Grazia Daily's excitement about attending her bi-annual intimate dinner and after party to celebrate her new collection. The event took place following Vivienne's show at the Foreign Office, where after a charming array of ladylike tea dresses, twin sets and soft tailoring was sent down the runway, the designer herself took to the stage to reprise her Paralympic protest, unfurling a banner reading 'Climate Revolution' with the aid of two models. When we caught up with the Westwood at the party, she told us 'We need to save our world, the general public, because the politicians won't. We're all part of this revolution. We need this change.' When pressed about who the 'idiots' she so often berates in her eco-campaign were, Westwood told us 'the idiots are anyone who's consuming with a hole in their head, buys pre-prepared food and has never been to an art gallery.'
Well, there was certainly no sign of pre-prepared food at the following dinner at Embassy in Mayfair. We enjoyed a delicious two-course meal, while sipping Champagne alongside Vivienne, Olivia Grant and Toululah Adeyemi. Olivia joked with Grazia Daily that she 'might pull an all nighter', as she needed to be up at 7.30am to film her new TV show, Endeavour. Olivia wasn't the only one in the party mood - all of Team Westwood and her stylish friends seemed keen to let their hair down, and we spotted Lady Victoria Hervey and Laura Whitmore chatting, giggling and sipping cocktails well into the early hours of the morning. After dinner, guests headed downstairs to Le Baron nightclub to keep the celebration going. Models from the show joined the celebs to enjoy some Ciroc Ultra Premium Vodka cocktails - of course, it being a Vivienne Westwood party, we did spot some pretty crazy outfits, but Lady Victoria looked resplendent in a crushed velvet trouser suit and V necklace, which she told us was in honour of Vivienne, and Olivia Grant wore a ladylike sequinned dress. With a killer show and party under her belt, Westwood continues her reign as queen of the London fashion scene.
What we ate: Pear and Parmesan salad, Pan fried cod with Mediterranean vegetables.
What we drank: Ciroc Ultra Premium Vodka Cocktails.
What we spotted: The biggest bottle of Champagne EVER at the bar. It nearly dwarfed us!
