London Fashion Week Sneak Peek: Olivia Rubin On Her Spring Summer 2013 Collection

14 September 2012 by

What better way to kick off day one of London Fashion Week than with a preview of one of Grazia's favourite London-based, British designers Olivia Rubin. Over the past six years Olivia's gorgeous original prints and easy to wear, yet stand-out silhouettes have made her popular with both the fash pack and A-list alike. Each season we can't wait to see what colourful, dynamic motifs Olivia has created and for Spring/Summer '13 she's certainly delivered. Olivia's new collection, which takes inspiration from the London landscapes and contrasting bright summer florals, shows off  what she does best: Olivia's achieved the perfect balance of quirky and cool graphics (see the 'No Entry' and No.5 motif sweaters, plus Olivia's signature brick print in pretty pastels) and gorgeous feminine frocks and soft tailoring.

Exclusive: Olivia Rubin's new Spring/Summer '13 Campaign.

So who would the designer like to see in her vibrant and punchy Spring/Summer '13 collection? "Women that aren’t afraid of clashing colour and like to have fun with their wardrobe. I think Kelly Osbourne (she’s had a fashion turnaround recently with fab colour blocking and pattern ensembles), Gwen Stefani (my ultimate style icon) and Karen Gillan" who Olivia also admired for taking fashion risks.
Olivia who sites the Petal Pansy pleated dress, ‘No Entry’ sweater and Spiral Brick shirt dress, as her new season favourites, told us, her Spring/Summer '13 collection "Is about letting the print do the talking, while the extra pleat, peplum and button details give the simple silhouettes an extra twist".
Olivia also explained that her aim is to create "Premium, timeless pieces in rich fabrics and colours, at affordable prices". And brilliantly she's very attuned to the current economic climate: "Price is on everybody’s mind at the moment" Olivia told us "So I've made a real effort to reduce prices so that everything in the Spring/Summer '13 collection retails for under £199."
And you can't say fairer than that! Three cheers for Olivia Rubin!
