Kate Nash On Performing At London Fashion Week & Dressing Like A Punk Granny

14 September 2012 by

Ever since she hit the scene with her smash hit 'Foundations', Kate Nash has pulled on my heart strings; her music, her personality and notably her unique style all captured my attention. And now, she is about to make her fashion week debut on the catwalk! As Kate prepares for a surprise performance at a scheduled show at London Fashion Week this Saturday, I caught up with the lady herself to find out all about her gig and her plans for the future...

Kate, can you tell us about your performance at LFW? Any hints as to what we can expect?
No, it's a secret. Something old, something new, something borrowed...

How do you prepare for a performance, have you any secret rituals?
I like to have a couple of drinks, listen to my favourite artists and do a vocal warm up, and having my hair and makeup done help me focus.

What do you love about fashion week?

I love being able to drink champagne anytime of the day, seeing what people are wearing and discovering new designers, and it's the one time that the designers' clothes exist as art.

Are you planning to catch any shows? If so, which ones are you looking forward to?

Yes. Bora Aksu, ASHISH, Ones to Watch and Ji Cheng.

How would you describe your style?
Seven-year-old meets granny meets punk, inspired by movie stars.

Have you any style icons to which you look for inspiration?

Joan Jett, Karen O and Courtney Love.

What is your favourite outfit and why?

A pink, six-textured Bora Aksu dress that I would be happy to die in, or my pyjamas.

As we know, music is your first love, have you any plans to record a new album?
Actually, ice cream was my first love... I've just finished recording my third album in a mansion in LA. It's my best work to date and I'm really excited to release it, and I have an EP coming out at the end of October.

What’s next for Kate?
I have a few London events coming up in October, a European tour and some dates in America.
