Kate Middleton Visits Mosque Wearing Beulah London, LK Bennett Heels And A Headscarf

14 September 2012 by

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge paid their first ever visit to a mosque today on the latest stage of their tour of South-East Asia. As the royal couple stepped out of their official car at the Assyakirin Mosque in Kuala Lumpur - the biggest in Malaysia - Kate was asked to take off her LK Bennett heels and wear a headscarf according to Islamic religious law. They were educated about the process of preparing for prayer and learned about the role of the mosque in the local community before attending a performance of local culture in a nearby park.

Kate wore a white dress by Beulah London, a label she was also seen wearing in June for the wedding of close friend Alice St. John Webster. Beulah London is run by Kate and William's friend Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs who told Grazia Daily, 'We have been very fortunate as a young business to have had early support from Kate and many other celebrities. Every moment we see our pieces on someone is a proud moment for us as it reminds us what we have achieved to date.'

For many, Kate's appearance at the mosque wearing a headscarf will evoke memories of Princess Diana, who made effort to adhere to local laws and customs when on royal tours. You can see how Kate's sheer buttoned up dress and matching scarf resembles an outfit Diana wore when she visited a hospital in Lahore in 1996. A royal aid revealed today: 'It is the first time that either the Duke and Duchess have visited a mosque. They were keen to do so as it is is an important part of UK culture as well as being the predominant religion here.'

When the DoC later removed the headscarf she revealed a beautiful up do, the first of her Asian tour where her new hairdresser has so far styled her hair in loose glossy curls. The natural look is quite a transformation from Kate's Disney Princess appearance at Istana Palace in Alexander McQueen last night. Who knows what else she's got in store for us today! We'll be posting all her outfits, but in the meantime, check out Grazia's Kate Middleton Look Book.

Sultan Hanif Rasuli (Fri Sep 21 00:38:35 BST 2012): she is beaitiful, and suits the scarf. isn't it not food for thoguht plp, that when muslims women wear the head scarf it is seen by media as oppression, but when it is there own princess wearing it, it is seen as elegant, modest and liberating. hypocracy is something everone should be familiar with, unfortunately it is strife here in the UK aswell as europeaon countires.
