Excited about London Fashion Week? Us too! It is but a few hours away (if you include tonight’s party schedule) and just in case you needed any extra encouragement, we’re delivering a very nice – and exclusive – way to get you into the spirit. Simply watch the video above.
It’s a rather moody teaser of the film created for William Tempest’s collaboration with River Island, all in aid of Fash/on Film’s digital LFW launch on Friday night. The Fash/on Film initiative was set up by the British Fashion Council and River Island to support talent in this arena and this video celebrates the second biannual anniversary of the project.
William’s 1920s-meets-Egypt collection with River Island’s Design Forum featured in Grazia magazine last week and now it’s dropping into stores as we speak. With a fan club including Rihanna and Emma Watson, the young British designer is known for his brilliant cocktail dresses and A-list friendly frocks, all of which you can snap up under this partnership.
“My inspiration for the collection came from ancient Egyptian mythology, 1920s interiors and the work of M.C. Esher,” William told us. “I used the Scarab Beetle, a symbol of wealth and power for Ancient Egyptians, as a motif, which runs throughout the collection in prints, embellishments, and on trims such a zip pullers.”
With all of those dark points of inspiration, it’s no wonder William tapped the resources of director Ryan Hope. His most recent high profile project was George Michael’s comeback music video ‘White Light’, starring none other than Kate Moss.
We can’t wait to see the whole thing. Roll on LFW!
