Tavi Gevinson Launches A Book! And Teaches Us How To Bitchface

13 September 2012 by

We haven’t heard much from the Illanois girl since she packed up for New York Fashion Week last season then quickly afterwards appeared with Cyndi Lauper in a MEGA Uniqlo campaign. But now Tavi Gevinson, the sixteen year old fashion blogger, has launched the Rookie Yearbook to celebrate her online magazine Style Rookie’s first birthday. Aw!

The elfin teen made an appearance on Jimmy Fallon's show this week where the talk show host not only displayed his own tweeny characteristics, but gave us a peek inside the brand new annual. (Annual is so retro and high school…don’t you wish you were in Tavi’s class?)

Tavi has shown her fashion credentials and numerous fashion weeks, with years of style blogging under her belt, as well as turning her hand to modelling, all of which she describes as “way different to middle school”. No doubt! But this segment on the show lets us see Tavi’s funny side, as she describes Fallon’s favourite page in the book, How To Bitchface. The picture led diagrams identify varieties of ways to bitchface- a passive aggressive expression unique to teenage girls. And her re-enactments are even funnier on what she describes as her own chronically bitchface-y visage! Or particular favourite is the fingers-on-temples intolerant version of bitchface, indicating the person you’re speaking to is in face, headache inducing. We think we’ve seen that face before!
