UPDATE: Grazia Daily spoke to the brilliant Prabal Gurung about his feelings on seeing the Duchess of Cambridge wearing his design in Singapore: 'This is the ultimate honour,' he said. 'I had been hoping that she would wear one of our dresses but for it to happen while she's visiting the part of the world I was born in and right in the midst of New York Fashion Week, is an absolute dream come true.'
Kate Middleton Wears Prabal Gurung
It's barely lunchtime here in Blighty but the Duchess of Cambridge is already onto outfit number two as she continues her tour of Southeast Asia and the Pacific. First we saw a kimono-style dress by Jenny Packham and now Kate has arrived at the welcome ceremony in Singapore with hubby Prince William - and LOOK: she's gone print-tastic in purple!
So is this another Packham number? A touch of McQueen perhaps? Nope, Kate's latest frock, covered in a brilliantly bright digital floral design, is by super-cool designer Prabal Gurung. Who'da thunk she'd ditch the Brit brands and go for such an edgy designer who's just shown his Spring Summer 2013 at New York Fashion Week?
Mr Gurung's mouth-watering combination of expert tailoring and entrancing print work have made a modern choice for trend-setters like Sarah Jessica Parker and Olivia Palermo so it really is beyond our wildest fashion dreams to see Kate donning his designs.

But it all makes perfect sense considering the designer was born in Singapore before being trained in New York (during which time he also interned at Donna Karan, no less). No doubt the savvy Duchess - who never puts a sartorial foot wrong - has chosen the frock as a sign of respect to the President of Singapore, who she's meeting today. Who could forget, after all, the furore that Michelle Obama caused when she arrived at the Chinese State Dinner wearing a gown by - gasp - a British and not Chinese designer.
So we say bravo, K-Middy, for trying something a little different, championing an up-coming designer and remaining politically correct. But what's YOUR verdict?
