If you want to know how to pull off runway trends on a budget then Manchester-based blogger Laura Logan of Logan's Runway is your girl. We love her for her personal style snaps, obsession with accessories and brilliant pun blog title! To find out more read our Q&A...
Grazia Daily: How long have you been blogging?
Laura: I started Logan’s Runway back in January, I had been planning it for nearly a year before, but made it a New Year’s resolution to myself to get it up and running in 2012. So in blogging terms, I am still relatively new, but I feel like I have learned so much in a short space of time and have lots of new ideas to come!
Grazia Daily: What made you decide to start your blog?
Laura: I wanted to find a way to express myself more creatively and I have always had a huge love of fashion so a blog seemed to be the perfect outlet for me. With the help of my Twin Sister Katie we have always been the go to girls for all our friends and colleagues for shopping and style advice. This is something I love to do and so the blog was just another way of fuelling my passion for styling.
Grazia Daily: What’s been your highlight so far?
Laura: There have been so many highlights so far, covering London and Manchester Fashion Weeks in particular, but I think that the best part of blogging is the reaction from your followers and the comments that are left on the bottom of each post. It is so nice to think that someone has liked what you have written or a look you have put together, that is what keeps me going and makes all the work worthwhile. I have had some lovely responses on the blog and Twitter from all around the world, which is pretty hard to take in sometimes. Although, being shortlisted as Best New Fashion Blogger in the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards has been a real personal highlight.
Grazia Daily: Are there any particular perks of blogging?
Laura: There are some lovely perks to blogging, I have been sent some great pieces to review both fashion and beauty related so I do feel very lucky. However I think the invites to events, press launches etc are the real exciting part of blogging, it is at these events that you get to meet fellow bloggers and you get that chance to see fashion collections before everyone else which is a real privilege. As well as Fashion, I am a girl who loves a good party, canapé and glass of Champagne, so it is perfect for me!
Grazia Daily: Have you been to London Fashion Week?
Laura: I have been lucky enough to go to the last two London Fashion Weeks and have been to some fantastic shows such as Todd Lynn, John Rocha, Kinder Aggugini and Issa London. It is always a great experience at Somerset House to see the beautiful designs and it is a fantastic place to see some amazing street style. As well as the fashion you get to do some star spotting at the Issa Show I was sat just a few places down from Gemma Arterton and Tinie Tempah which was very exciting! I can’t wait for the next London Fashion Week in a couple of weeks and I am in full prep mode.
Grazia Daily: Blog brag time: why should people read your blog?
Laura: People should read my blog if they love fashion and styling and doing it on a limited budget! One of the reasons I started the blog was to create something that was accessible to all women, as so many of the blogs out there are (although wonderful) very high end and designer. Logan’s Runway is for a real Woman who loves fashion and catwalk trends, and doesn’t want to compromise their style even though the purse strings might not stretch to the designer labels. I love mixing high street and high end, and I hope everyone else can see my genuine love of what I do.
Grazia Daily: What advice do you have for anyone starting a blog?
Laura: The biggest advice I could give anyone is to really love what you blog about. It is such a transparent medium, and if you just try and start a blog for the sake of it, it will show straight away. You have to put so many hours into it, so it has to be something you are passionate about. I come home at the end of a day and my mind is so full of ideas that I can’t wait to get to work on them so I feel that is what you need. Don’t worry about not being IT savvy, I had very basic skills when I first started, but there is some wonderful software out there to help you through. You also have to be up to date with all new Social Media tools, Instagram, Twitter, and Pintrest can be crucial for driving traffic and look out for any SEO or PPC courses that can help your skillset. But really if I can do it, anyone can!
Grazia Daily: Which other fashion blogs do you love?
Laura: I love so many fashion blogs and regularly use them for inspiration, but my day to day favourites are Be Frassy, LLYMLRS, Sincerely Jules, Style Bubble, 5 Inch and Up, Style and Pepper, Fashion Blog Love, Wish Wish Wish, What Olivia Did and Glam and Glitter. The list goes on!
