The Rise of the Child Stylists! First Katie Holmes and Suri, Now Nicole Richie Admits Her Kids Are Her Biggest Fashion Critics

03 September 2012 by

First we had celebrity boyfriends like Kanye West and Justin Timberlake admitting they dressed their other halves, and now we hear news that A-list offspring are getting in the act. Nicole Richie has admitted that her children, Harlow Winter, aged 4, and Sparrow James, aged 2, are her biggest fashion critics.

Nicole told People magazine: “I was wearing these polka-dot harem pants the other day and my daughter said to me, ‘Mom, why are you wearing your pyjamas out?’ I was like, oh boy, already getting an opinion. And it’s not just mummy’s little girl who has a strong sense of style explains Nicole: “My son always comes up to me and gives me a hug if he thinks I look pretty. Their biggest compliment to me if I’m wearing anything with sequins on it, they tell me I look like a princess.”

Katie Holmes and Nicole Richie take style input from their kids

Nicole isn’t the only one to get the styling treatment from her kids – Katie Holmes has recalled how at only 3 years old her daughter Suri had started picking out her clothes for her. “She loves clothes and picks out her own,” Holmes noted of her then toddler and revealed that it was Suri and not a celebrity stylist who picked out her outfit for the Costume Institute Gala. Katie told New York magazine that “Suri made me put them on (a pair of bright blue pumps) and so I was like, ‘Ok, I trust you.’”

Between stylists and family members we’re starting to wonder if there is anyone in Tinseltown who, like, just gets dressed in the morning. Of course when the paps are waiting we’d probably be all over a second opinion too….
