SURELY Kate Middleton will wear red, white or blue at the Paralympics Opening Ceremony, we confidently declared earlier today as we placed our bets at Paddy Power. But oh no! The Duchess of Cambridge has only gone and stunned us all by wearing a gold - yes, GOLD! - ensemble. Well, it's more of a subtle champagne hue than a bling-bling metallic, but you get the gist.
And here is the very first snap of Kate sporting the delightful DAY Birger et Mikkelsen coat dress at tonight's event. Although we hoped she might be sartorially inspired by one of those shiny medals up for grabs, we didn't think she'd actually DO it, especially after that very patriotic wardrobe she cracked out for the Olympics events. What's more, she's gone very matchy-matchy on us with a Wilbur & Gussie gold clutch, her fave pair of LK Bennet Sledge heels and glossier-than-ever tresses. Nice work, lady.
But if there's one thing we can always count on from our K-Middy, it's a good dollop of recycling chic. Yep, you may recognise this brocade creation from Zara Phillips's wedding day when Kate wore it with a marvellous pringle-esque hat. And you'll also remember it from the 2006 wedding of Laura Parker Bowles and Harry Lopes. Oh, and it also had an outing at last May’s wedding of Mel Nicholson and Oli Baker at St. Andrews...
Ah yes, some things never change.
