Helmut Lang Launches Guest Blogging Series: First Up? Susie Bubble!

Susie Bubble's outfit and moodboard for her guest blogging spot for Helmut Lang

Ooh that Helmut Lang’s a bit cool again, isn’t it? Once upon a time in the 1980s, Helmut Lang, an Austrian designer with impeccable taste, founded the minimalist and deconstructed look that kept fashion editors who didn’t want to power dress very happy indeed. It was the go-to brand for subversive suiting and very very good monochrome clothes, but when Helmut left the company in 2005 (after it was bought out by the Prada group) it slipped off the radar somewhat. It has since been re-launched, under the ownership of a company called Link Theory Holdings and with the creative direction of Michael and Nicole Colovos, a married fashion duo who are known for setting up denim brand Habitual in Los Angeles.

In the past year Helmut Lang has really upped the fashion ante. The collection is stocked pretty much everywhere you can think of - from Selfridges to My-Wardrobe.com, and their leathers, skinny jeans and flattering jersey draping proves to be ultra popular. Last week Cheryl Cole turned to the minimalist brand for a great leather skirt, but Nicole Richie, Leigh Lezark, Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron are also fans.

Blogger Denni Elias glamming up in her gues post for Helmut Lang

Now to up the cred even further, the label is launching a new online project with a guest bloggers series on helmutlang.com and helmutlangjournal.com. First up is a triumphant trio of Susie Lau of Style Bubble, Phil Oh of street style website StreetPeeper and the ever-stylish Denni Elias of Chic Muse. Each of them has the spotlight for a week, with Q&A and lovely pics of them wearing their favourites from the new collection.

So what have we learnt about the three? Well, Susie’s obsessed with William Morris-type florals and her biggest vice is McCoy’s crisps. Phil almost didn’t start his street style site because of the other established ones on the blogging block, and Denni doesn’t leave the house without sunglasses and eyeliner and just loooves her grandma’s cooking!

Beverly Houston (Fri Aug 31 02:44:08 BST 2012): I just love Susie! Her style is so unique, but she is fashionable both at the same time. I agree that Helmut Lang was a designer with a great taste for the minimalist and deconstructed look. I hope to see more from him this coming year.
