They were once Hollywood’s golden couple. But just seven weeks after Katie Holmes announced she would be divorcing Tom Cruise it has been finalised meaning TomKat are OFFICIALLY no more. Well, that was quick.
Katie shocked the world - and indeed Cruise himself, the actor was sad to have been ‘blindsided’ - on June the 29th when she revealed she would be leaving the 50-year-old actor. Claiming ‘irreconcilable differences’ it was clear that Katie was willing to go head to head with her estranged partner as it was revealed she would be fighting for sole custody of their six year old daughter Suri.
However as reports began to emerge about the true reason that she had decided to end their marriage – namely because of Tom’s increasing involvement in the church of Scientology - the pair decided to release a joint statement. They said last month. ‘We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents.' Interesting.
And work together they did. Whilst the divorce papers have not been officially released their lawyers spent hours bashing out their settlement which is thought to have meant that Katie did indeed win sole custody and primary residential custody of Suri with Tom being given generous visitation rights.
But what's had us fash-fans enthralled is Katie's impressive break-over wardrobe. She's ditched the scary satin, roll-necks and flares for upbeat, casual, bright and youthful ensembles. Hurrah! What's more, she's set to take New York Fashion Week by storm as she brings her fashion line, Holmes & Yang, to the Big Apple. So what's next for fashed-up, Tom-free Katie? We can't wait to see.
