The first sweltering day of Miami Swim Week (32 degrees celsius, people, try packing for that during last week's abominable weather!) and a bus stop poster appeared mirage-like stating thus; all swimwear starts in Miami. From a historical point of view this is probably untrue, but in modern day Miami where a bikini is acceptable day attire (wedge heels and jewellery make it a complete outfit) and the most radical swim trends are tried and tested on the ultimate perfect posing-confident bodies, it sounds about right to me. This is a place where girls spend their cashiola on the little things, so to speak. We love a knit, they love a Brazilian tanga.

But all is a-changing in this niche market; in fact, swim is becoming big business and Miami Swim Week is ever growing and attracting larger audiences - both on the alist from front but from international buyers too. No longer is your holiday essential a cheap afterthought,more and more women are discovering that a seriously great swimsuit or two piece can make you feel slimmer than months of hard slog at the gym.Tory Burch took the opportunity to launch a dedicated swim line for resort 2013, while key LFW designers like Roksanda llincic are going stateside for this five day event to bring greater exposure to their swimwear ventures too, "Miami Swim Week is vital for gaining exposure amongst some of the most exciting swimwear stores and labels." She told us, "It’s a great opportunity to meet press and key people in person.
