Following the news which Grazia Daily revealed earlier this month that hip New York label Rag & Bone will finally be opening a store in the capital, as well as presenting at London Fashion Week, guess who’s been unveiled as the star of the brand’s first ever print campaign? Kate Moss of course!
London’s very own poster girl, was captured by photographer Craig McDean in this smouldering shoot which features the cityscape of Kentish Town, North London in the background. It’s not too much of a surprise that the designer duo behind the brand, David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, have set their sights on UK domination as they themselves are British and met at boarding school in Berkshire. Neville explained, "It felt fitting to shoot our first ever collection campaign in London, especially as we are opening a store there this month. Although we are essentially a New York brand, our English roots have always influenced our aesthetic and casting Kate was another nod to our heritage."
We think Croydon native Kate is an amazing fit for R&B, as her trademark skinny jeans, ankle boots and leather jacket look oozes the casual, laid back, urban aesthetic of the brand. Wainwright told WWD that the shoot “wasn’t in a studio; it was just them on a derelict London street — Kate with minimal makeup, and Craig with a handheld camera and natural light.” If only we all looked so glamorous without our slap on.
The campaign will appear in the September issues, including international editions of Vogue, Vanity Fair US, AnOther, Self Service and The Paris Review.
This isn’t the model’s only campaign of late; she also features in Ferragamo's Autumn/ Winter 2012 video (above) and posed in ads for denim brand Liu Jo (below). Busy lady!
