So Kate Middleton might have worn a Cartier necklace worth £49,000 for a trip to the National Portrait Gallery yesterday, but typically, she's just as thrifty with her accessories as she is with her clothes.
Of course, jewellery is something the Duchess wears with multiple outfits and avidly re-wears her favourite jewels; from the sapphire and diamond earrings created for her from a pair owned by the late Princess of Wales, through to the Kiki McDonagh earrings which Prince William gave her for Christmas. And she regularly uses her jewels to give her outfits a whole new look.
Her collection of bags (virtually all clutches, obvs) range from the much favoured, and still available L K Bennett Natalie, through to the Jaeger 'Kate' quilted number (still available in green here) and the super glam DVF leopard print clutch whch we utterly heart.
Hats, Kate also has in plentiful supply. Ranging from a cappucino coloured style by UK based company, Whiteley, to the navy blue taffeta design by Rachel Trevor Morgan, Kate is a past master at re-working her wardrobe by adding or subtracting a hat. Let's call it millinery maths, shall we?
And then, there are the shoes. The shoes! Aside from the L K Bennett Sledge pumps in taupe, which are so well-loved by Kate that they deserve their own Wikipedia entry, Kate has also been known to re-wear her wedge espadrilles, nude peep-toe numbers, suede ankle boots and her party shoes - the Jimmy Choo 'Vamp' sandals.
