Alexa Chung For Vero Moda: 'My Style Is Inspired By Keith Richards and Minnie Mouse'

20 July 2012 by

She credits Jane Birkin as her style icon so it comes as no surprise to see Alexa Chung styled up like the Sixties star in her latest modelling campaign.

Vero Moda has treated Grazia Daily to the exclusive first look at their Autumn Winter 2012 offering, which sees the Brit stunner posing up a storm with her chocolatey-brown tresses and shaggy fringe in all their hipster glory.

Shot in London, the images were inspired by that covetable Birkin look and the Swinging Sixties vibe of our capital city, making Alexa the perfect girl for the job. You'll remember we last saw her getting Sixties-tastic for Maje in an array of dreamy black and white shots, also inspired by the French film star.

Chungers showcases the Danish high street brand's latest collection which features those classic retro shapes and cuts from houndstooth print trousers and boucle knits to a cocoon-shaped coat, high-waisted shorts and a white broderie anglaise shirt.

Alexa Chung Channels Jane Birkin (Again) For Vero Moda: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

In celebration, we had a few fashioney questions for Lady Chung...

Grazia Daily: Which of this season's trends are you most attracted to?
Alexa Chung: I don't believe in trends. I'm drawn to things I love and have my own perennial choices. For example, mini-dress, mannish shirts, black skinny jeans and ankle boots.

Grazia Daily: Is there a specific feeling or look you like to channel when styling yourself?
Alexa Chung: These are the people who inspire me: Keith Richards, Anita Pallenburg, George Harrison, Kurt Cobain, Marianne Faithful, Alice in Wonderland, Minnie Mouse, Grayson Perry.

Grazia Daily: You have mentioned you are going to style Vero Moda's flapper dress with boots and opaque tights, but how would you dress it up?

Alexa Chung: I usually don't go for dressing things up as I like to dress things down, hence the boots and opaques which would be very simple. But if i were to dress up the flapper dress it would be with a statement cocktail ring, ballet pumps and a ribbon in my hair.

Jane Birkin would be proud.
