Forget Erdem And McQueen, Will Julien MacDonald Be Kate Middleton's Next Designer?

02 July 2012 by

Julien MacDonald may soon be designing for Kate Middleton, following in the footsteps of Erdem and McQueen.

MacDonald, a fan of plunging necklines and sheer lace fabrics, seems an unusual choice for the conservative princess, but he told the Sunday Mirror that he thinks her taste is becoming increasingly risque.

He said: “I might be doing her very soon actually. You keep an eye out. I think she’s very elegant. She wears the high street as well as designer. That’s what makes her appealing to young girls and the public.”

“The more she goes out the more she seems able to experiment with fashion. She has gone slowly – but I think it’s a brilliant move. She’s wearing colours prints and different British designers. She’s going to transform as the years go by. If she went out wearing something silly then the entire world would talk about it – so she’s being careful.”

MacDonald has previously dressed Cheryl Cole, Tamara Ecclestone and Kelly Rowland. K Mid, a lover of court shoes and coat dresses, has a very different style.

So here’s the conundrum – will MacDonald be toning down his saucy style for the Duchess or will we soon be spying the 30-year-old in acid green gowns, flirty skirts and sheer mini dresses?

We thought we’d take her for a test run and have imagined how Midders would look if she stepped out in the more risqué of MacDonald’s pieces.
