Eliza Doolittle, Princess Beatrice and Florence Welch Get Arty at the Britain Creates 2012 Gala

Never mind the art, we couldn’t stop looking at Eliza Doolittle’s amazing gold wedges at the Britain Creates Gala at The Old Selfridges Hotel last night. Christian Louboutin, of course. ‘I love them,’ she told us. Also looking splendid was Florence Welch in a floor length black sheer Julian Macdonald gown, and Princess Beatrice in a wool-crepe Roskanda Ilincic number.

Once we’d had a good look at what everyone was wearing, we grabbed a glass of champagne and some crudité and dip and perused the art work on show. The night was to celebrate a number of collaborations between artists and fashion designers in the year including Mary Katrantzou and Mark Titchner's who created a digital video installation with the words ‘Courage, Ambition, Passion, Strength.’ Our favourite however was Paul Smith and Charming Baker’s amazing sculpture of a tiny weeny mouse holding up a bicycle. Just awesome!

The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue also caught our eye as he caught up with The Voice’s Bo Bruce, leading us to wonder if those romance rumours were true after all. Meanwhile Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey was man of the night, with everyone wanting to chat with him.

After looking at the art, a gong sounded meaning it was time for dinner, which was a delicious three course meal. Later on, after we’d finished eating, the art collaborations were auctioned off to raise money for the BFC/BAZZAR Fashion Arts Foundation. What a night!
