Guess Girls: Why Naomi Campbell And Claudia Schiffer Dreamt Of Being The Chosen One

In this week’s super-duper issue of Grazia we exclusively chat to the founder and creative director of Guess, Paul Marciano. Why? Well, it’s the American denim mega-brand’s 30th anniversary and we’ve rediscovered all of the fantastic Guess campaigns that have launched some of recent fashion history’s top supermodels – and practically ALL of the current Vcitoria’s Secret girls. Signing a contract for a Guess campaign is like a one-way ticket to major fashiondom. In the issue this week we grill Mr Marciano on why he was so keen on snapping up Paris Hilton back in the noughties, how he discovered Claudia Schiffer 24 years ago and the fact that many of the clothes in a Guess campaign aren’t even from the brand! A book will be launching in August that celebrates the past decade of infamous Guess campaign shoots, but there’s a wealth of brilliant imagery from the past that we can’t help but revisit and enjoy all over again. Scroll through the gallery above for some extra iconic images and their tales - and be sure to check out the magazine for the full scoop…

When French model and actress Laetitia Casta first walked into the Guess office for a casting Paul thought she was a lost child looking for her parents! Her 1993 Guess campaign launched a very succesful career.
