You’ve probably noticed that we’ve started a countdown for the release of Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of 'The Great Gatsby' which is due to hit the big screen at the end of the year. We positively squealed when the trailer landed just last month. And, as if the appeal of drooling over Leonardo DiCaprio looking dapper and Carey Mulligan as a wide-eyed flapper wasn’t enough, all this Gatsby hysteria has reignited our love for 1920s fashion.
But we’re not the only ones taking our inspiration from this iconic era. Katy Perry looked absolutely dazzling at the Spirit of Life Awards last night, dressed head to toe in a '20s-inspired ensemble. The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer wore a coral dress with an embellished lace trim which was elegantly cut to hug her smokin’ hot bod. Of course, no flapper girl look would be complete without a string of long pearls and beaded headpiece plus super fluttery lashes. Beaut!
We’re certainly loving the resurgence of this retro style having seen many a starlet rocking the look on the red carpet AND we’re even more excited about the fab frocks gracing the set of The Great Gatsby - and not just on the ladies. As we reported last week, legendary brand Brooks Brothers have provided authentic re-creations of classic pieces for the latest rendition of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel — no less than 1,700 pieces, including neckwear, accessories AND shoes. What a sartorial spectacle!
We’re certain there’ll be many more celebs keen to jump aboard this fab trend so keep your eyes peeled...
