News just in: Topshop have announced its latest collaboration! And the lucky designer is *drum roll please* JW Anderson!
The London-based, Irish-born designer has created a price-friendly womenswear collection for the high street hero, which will land this September. So what can we look forward to? Well, there's set to be denim, knitwear AND outerwear pieces. The collab will also include nifty bits and bobs from fashion-y pencils and memory sticks to rubik’s cubes, vintage magazines and photography books. Eeep!
'I am very excited to collaborate with Topshop,' JW says. 'It gives me the opportunity to reach a much wider audience with my designs. It has always been very important to me that my collections are made accessible to anyone interested in fashion and design.'
Alexa loves JW
Indeed, style icon types are huge fans of Mr JW who quickly established himself on the British fashion scene since launching his menswear line in 2008 before introducing womenswear in 2010. Alexa Chung, for one, has sported his sought-after creations on many occasions, most recently wearing the designer's paisley-print trousers to February's London Fashion Week [above right]. Hmm, will we see Chungers in the queue?
As for the word from Camp Topshop, Kate Phelan had this to say: 'The launch with JW Anderson is a new and exciting approach for Topshop to our collaborations. The capsule collection is a best of all his design ideas to date, a sort of must have wardrobe of covetable pieces by this unique designer. The interesting twist however is the cool collectable items that will make up the rest of this collection which JW Anderson has picked himself.'
PLUS there'll be a second capsule collection launching in early 2013. Grazia HQ is, naturally, imploding with excitement - read on for our initial reactions...
'The PJ pants from S/S’12 are the JW biggest obsession to date, I’m certain that plenty of ladies will be hoping and praying for a high street version of those silky paisley trousers,' says deputy fashion news and features editor, Hannah Almassi. 'Me? I’ll be holding out for the grid print from pre-fall, instead. Understatedly cool and very mesmerising.'
'I am a huge JW Anderson fan,' says fashion assistant Caroline Ferry. 'What I REALLY want is for all-over printed suits and biker jackets in this collab!'
Assistant editor Hattie Brett is most excited about emulating Alexa's style. 'She has the most coveted wardrobe for a 20-something-year-old female and proves you can't go wrong with a bit of JW.'
So with Maison Martin Margiela for H&M and now JW for Toppers, which collab are YOU most looking forward to?
