Cheryl Cole's sartorial offerings are guaranteed to cause a hoo-ha across the land (read: in the Grazia offices). Whether it's a ginormous gown by Eva Minge for the Jubilee concert or a floor-sweeping frock by ex-WAG-pal Victoria Beckham, Chezza always keeping things interesting. But her latest outfit has been met by a BARRAGE of eyebrow wrinkling...
The Geordie princess performed her new single 'Call My Name' at the Summertime Ball in Wembley Arena yesterday and before taking to the stage, proudly tweeted a snap of her snazzy ensemble. So did she plump for another military jacket or a new pair of Roberto Cavalli trousers perhaps? Nope, Chezza gave us a right eye-full by wearing little more than a multi-coloured jumpsuit with a pair of gold booties. Pop superhero, eat yer heart out!
But this isn't ain't any old jumpsuit — this is a wacktacular creation from the genius that is Pam Hogg. In true Hogg-y style, the garment consists of an array of rainbow brights, sparkling panels, a plunging neckline and clingy gold lycra that can't help but draw attention to *ahem* Chezzle's lady parts. You've gotta admire the girl's chutzpah.
Chez explains her interesting choice as such: 'When you're doing such a big event like that, it's a stadium – we [Girls Aloud] played here before with Coldplay – people at the back can't see a thing. You know they might get the odd clip on the screen or whatever but you become teenie tiny, so I thought I'd be bold and bright and give everybody a view.'
It sure is quite the sight! Admittedly, we're proud to see our Chez trying a more adventurous approach and we've watched as the singer has edged closer to an edgier style since ditching her Girls Aloud days. But this must be one of THE most unforgiving outfits in the world, no? And although Cheryl has got a figure to die for, we wonder whether she's funky enough to pull off such a catsuit? Or perhaps the question should be: can ANYONE pull off such a catsuit?!
Pam Hogg's Autumn Winter 2009 collection
Aside from CC, there have been many a starlet who've tried. Who could forget when Peaches Geldof poured herself into the designer's 'liquid-metal' creation back in 2009, teaming it with a pair of black tights *shudder* while flaunting her perky assets (in contrast, Cheryl kept her bosom under-wraps so let's at least be thankful for that, fash fans).
Then Kelly Rowland went all futuristic on us in a silver and black creation for the Latin America Awards. Is a Pam-suit essential for cementing your pop status we wonder? And no prizes for guessing Lady Gaga has had her Pam Hogg moment too, donning a red jacket with PVC shorts, fishnets and a bizarre eye mask that, when worn as an ensemble by such a style chameleon, comes off as brilliantly directional. In fact, we have an inkling Gagaloo may be the only woman alive who can make this one work...
But let's hear your thoughts, peeps! Have a scroll through past Pam Hogg-wearers in the gallery above and bring in the verdict.
