Jane Birkin, Grace Kelly, Alexa Chung, Lana Del Rey, Harper Beckham — anyone who’s anyone has a handbag named after them. And the latest famous face to join the accessory hall of fame is quite a bit younger than expected. Enter: Skyler Morrison! Yes, yes, he is a baby and he probably isn’t too bothered about having a namesake bag (unless there are some sweeties in there), but that didn’t stop mummy Rachel Zoe.
The stylist-turned-designer Instagram'd a picture yesterday of herself and a friend sporting her new creation. The accompanying tweet read: 'Me & @mandanadayani with our Rachel Zoe Fall 2012 Morrison bags, named after my son! xoRZ'. What an honour!
The two-some model the black leather bags that feature gold hardware and will be part of the autumn winter 2012 collection for Zoe's self-titled label. Rachel models her smaller sized Morrison with the cross-body strap, and we’ve got to say, it is a beaut.
So is La Zoe doing her best to rival one Lady Beckham? You'll remember Victoria unveiled a chic bag named after her adorable daughter, Harper Seven, during her New York Fashion Week show in February this year. 'Meet Harper!' VB tweeted at the time, surely making her the youngest person EVER to inspire such a high-end creation. Until now, of course.
This new trend in designer land has us pondering what other namesake creations we can expect. Nicole Richie already has her own range named after daughter Harlow but perhaps she'll release the Sparrow tote in tribute to her teeny son? And now that Pheobe Philo is a mother, here's hoping for a tres chic creation dedicated to her offspring too. As for Karl Lagefeld? A dainty bag named Choupette would do nicely, thankyouverymuch.
