Kate Middleton flies the flag for Queenie
'It's the nosiest party the Queen has ever seen!' Rob Brydon trilled as he took to the stage at the Diamond Jubilee Concert this evening and what a spectacular shindig it's been! To celebrate sixty years of reign as our monarch, the patriotic public were out in force at Liz II's humble residence of Buckingham Palace in London and - would you believe it - the sun popped out too. Hurrah!
Will and Jessie duet, anyone?
The show began with a rousing performance of 'Let Me Entertain You' from Robbie Williams followed up by Will.I.Am and Jessie J taking to the stage for a duet. The fellow mentors on 'The Voice' were perfectly co-ordinated with Will sporting a dapper red military jacket (channeling Prince Wills perhaps?) with matching leather gloves while Grazia's cover star looked spectacular in a sheer Falguni and Shane Peacock gown with gold embellishments and cobalt blue feathers, funked up by a swishy ponytail and gold hoop earrings.
Gazza and Chezza team up
Next up, Cheryl Cole took to the stage alongside Mr Gary Barlow and didn't she look ravishing in that tremendous full-length gown by Eva Minge (no sniggering!). Strapless, covered in black sequins and with frothy grey and ivory chiffon sprouting from the mermaid hemline, it sure was a show-stopper.
Go, Grace, GO!
Speaking of which, did you SEE Grace Jones?! In a red and black bodice? With major headgear? And a hula hoop? WOW. Then Annie Lennox turned up looking like a twinkling angel with full-on feathery wings (taking her song 'Talking To An Angel' a little TOO literally?) and Kylie Minogue rocked more military with a peaked cap and - you guessed it - teeny hotpants. What a show!
Kate Middleton in Whistles' Bella dress
But what we ALL want to know is what the Duchess of Cambridge is wearing, right? Right. The Palace has just confirmed that Kate Middleton is wearing a black blazer by Alexander McQueen over a patterned blue and purple dress from Whistles. Yep, the girl's got taste. Whistles' Bella bodycon dress in multipetal print WAS available from Asos.com for £150 but, funnily enough, it's now out of stock. The Kate Effect strikes again...
Once again, the Discount Duchess has expertly mixed a splash of high-end designer with a dollop of affordable high-street and is continuing her love for all things McQueen. You'll remember Kate's long been a Whistles fan, most memorably wearing a white knife-pleated skirt with a navy crocheted top for the last day of her LA tour last year.
There they are! Kate and Wills! Next to Hazza!
At present, we don't have a full-length shot of the Duchess (harumph, ruddy Royal Box) but this head-and-shoulder snap DOES prove just how pretty Kate is looking from the neck up with those glossy tresses as bouncy as ever. Do you prefer the more laid-back look in comparison to that vibrant McQueen outfit she wore for yesterday's booze cruise boat pagent?
Oh, and one more thing: didn't we tell you Kate would wear red on Sunday and blue on Monday? Does that leave us with a white number for tomorrow's royal shenanigans? Consider us on the edge of our seats...
