WATCH Anne Hathaway Sing and Have Her Hair Chopped Off in the 'Les Misérables' Trailer

Remember when Anne Hathaway sung that Les Miserables parody at the 2011 Oscar Awards? (If not, see below.) We all agreed that it was downright hilarious (plus we loved her androgynous tuxedo and ponytail ensemble) but it also made us realise just what a good set of lungs the actress has.

So, it wasn’t that surprising to hear that Anne Hathaway had been cast in the all-singing and all-dancing film adaptation of 'Les Misérables'. The film is directed by Tom Hooper (of 'The King’s Speech' fame) and stars Hollywood's finest from newcomer from Eddie Redmayne (be still our beating hearts) to the gorgeous Amanda Seyfried as well as Sacha Baron Cohen, Hugh Jackman and the legendary Helena Bonham Carter, all working their singing chops. Excitement!

And now, we have the first ever trailer for 'Les Misérables to keep us, err, singing, until the film comes out on New Year’s Day (yes, we have a while to wait). Anne Hathaway plays the tragic part of French factory worker Fantine who is forced to cut and sell her hair – a scene which is very real in the film as Anne refused to wear a wig for the part. Talk about method acting. The 29-year-old has also lost a significant amount of weight for the part but judging from the new trailer (scroll down to watch), all her efforts have paid off and she pulls off the gaunt Fantine brilliantly. Just listen to that voice! Isn't it haunting?

In case you're not familiar with the incredible play, the story follows the struggles of French people living in poverty in the 1800s and in the trailer, we also catch a glimpse of Amanda Seyfried who plays Anne Hathaway’s daughter Cosette, Hugh Jackman as ex-convict Jean Valjean and the dreamy Mr Redmayne as Marius.
