Topshop Wedding Dresses! Richard Nicoll Unveils High Street Collection of Bridal Wear

30 May 2012 by

Hipster brides rejoiced when Topshop revealed they would be launching their very own range of budget bridal wear and, to be honest, even us non-brides-to-be were thrilled too. We were instantly dreaming of casual coolness and soft, chiffon-y frocks for the laidback bride and we weren't far off. Yes, the greatly anticipated Blushing Brides collection has finally been unveiled!

The designer pieces are the handy work of one Richard Nicoll, the Brit-born designer who already has FIVE collaborations with the high street hero under his belt, and his signature style is clear to see in this latest installment. From contrasting sheer and matte fabrics to tailored and floaty shapes, the wedding dress-inspired collection includes four beautiful designs in pure white and pale shell-pink that would be ideal for a beach wedding.

For the feminine and floaty bride, there are layers of sheer organza under delicate geometric lace and lightweight crepe de chine. How gorgeous! But the stand-out piece is the floor-sweeping dress with a silk bodice, georgette underskirt and peplum perfect for the more modern nupitals.

'I loved the idea of doing wedding dresses with Topshop because I wanted to offer a younger, cooler alternative to meringue culture, something special, but not precious, like my friends, something they would wear if they were getting married,' Nicoll says of the collection. 'These pieces are perfect as party dresses too if you're not the marrying kind'.

See, who needs a groom anyway?
