How better to get that patriotic spirit going than with a dose of Burberry with your morning coffee? Oh yes, Christopher Bailey has just unveiled his brand spankin’ new ad campaign for Autumn Winter 2012 and in true Brit style, it’s gorgeously broody.
Gone is the rosy-cheeked Cara Delevingne giggling with a trenched-up Eddie Redmayne that we saw last season and in their place are the latest members of Burberry’s family of beautiful, talented and stylish young stars. Ladies and gents, we introduce you to stunning actress Gabriella Wilde and super-hot singer Roo Panes. Welcome to our style radar!
Just in time for the Jubilee celebrations, the images (shot by Mario Testino, natch) conjure up that quintessential Britishness with the new Burberry couple striking a mean-and-moody pose against the misty backdrop of London. It’s rather cinematic, dontcha think? In fact, the campaign shoot sounds more like a movie set with smoke, rain AND fog machines conjuring up that city vibe. Mister Bailey, you’ve really outdone yourself this time.
As he explains, ‘We wanted to play with everything that’s at the heart of the Burberry world – celebrating our brand and London through imagery, film, music, weather and our iconic outerwear, all in a very poetic and British way.’ We say mission accomplished.
Gabriella and Roo follow in the footsteps of previous Burberry pairings like Emma Watson and George Craig so we have an inkling they’ll be catapulted into the fashion stratosphere faster than you can say ‘peplum’. As well as making a flat cap look fetching, Gabriella has bagged a part in Stephen King's film adaptation of ‘Carrie’ alongside star-of-the-moment Chloe Moretz while Roo is a mighty talented chap, having recorded the soundtrack for the new campaign. And with a name like Roo not to mention R-Pattz hair, you’re guaranteed super-star status, right?
