Grazia Daily has been given the first exclusive look at Prada's short film, ‘A Therapy’, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival mere hours ago. The four-minute long feature, written and directed by Roman Polanski, was screened to rapturous applause as part of the Cannes Classic selection.
It features Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Kingsley - all dressed from head to toe in Prada, naturally. Helena's character is a spoiled rich girl pouring her heart out on his psychologist's couch; but Ben gets more and more distracted by her coat hanging on the door...
There's minimal branding, as a Prada spokesperson said: "We wanted to keep it light and funny, we see this as a film, not an advertisement."
Shot in Paris a few months ago, the Cannes Film Festival became interested after Polanski sent it to the festival director. The short movie was then shown at a surprise screening tonight (Monday 21st) before the scheduled projection of the restored movie ‘Tess’. It'll now go online on the brand's website, www.prada.com, so get a-clicking!
“When I was asked to shoot a short movie for Prada, I did not think that I could really be myself, but the reality is that in the total freedom I was given, I had the opportunity to reunite my favorite group of people on set and just have fun," said Polanksi of the project. "The chance to dwell on what the fashion world represents nowadays and the fact that it is accompanied by so many stereotypes is fascinating and at the same time a bit upsetting, but you definitely can not ignore it. It’s very refreshing to know that there are still places open to irony and wit and, for sure, Prada is one of them.” And hurrah for that!
The most exciting thing is how good Helena (and Ben) look in Prada - we see more red carpet collaborations to come!
